Alabuga International School is the first International School in the Volga region (Russian Federation, the Republic of Tatarstan) and the fifth that has been granted an official membership in the Council of International Schools (CIS), a premium organization of international education. The status of CIS member school demonstrates AIS’s commitment to the international standards of school operation, teaching and learning processes: school governance, staffing, professional development of the faculty, financial backing, and safety, medical and household services. The teaching in AIS is provided through International Baccalaureate (PYP). The history of our school has started in 2014 and today the number of students comprises about 150 children aged from 2 to 11 years.

Being an IB school AIS seeks creative and outstanding individuals to undertake an internship and volunteering activities in our school with the opportunity to lead research and scientific work. We focus on STEM (Math/Robotics), Biotech (Biology/Chemistry/Science), Design thinking, Emotional Intelligence, consequently, candidates are expected to lead lessons in these fields in the morning hours.

AIS Volunteering/Internship program aims at encouraging students to become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others and have the capacity to participate in the world around them and we believe this to be of paramount importance for the society as schoolchildren, students and youth of Yelabuga and its vicinity will be able to take part in our program. There is the largest Special Economic Zone in Russia - “Alabuga” recognized as the best in Europe by ‘fDi Intelligence’ magazine of ‘Financial Times’ group just 10 miles from the town. The residents of SEZ “Alabuga” are such world-famous companies as Ford, Armstrong, Rockwool, 3M and others. We also consider it our mission according to a new strategy to nurture kids educated enough for local opportunities and global challenges.

Interns and volunteers will be provided with full-day nutrition, free accommodation, travel expenses, pocket money and unique working-experience in the very heart of Russia, the Republic of Tatarstan.

AIS takes seriously its obligation to help its interns grow professionally once they join the school and offers a dynamic professional development program anchored in research. If desired, volunteers/interns are welcome to collaborate with SEZ “Alabuga” as well.

“Geniality, friendliness and happiness -

These are the first words that pop in my mind when I think of my volunteering experience here. Before I came here I was very excited as anybody who was going to try something new, but on my  first two days here I was empty inside and by “empty” I mean that I’ve realized that I’m in a completely new place in which I must adapt quickly and seeing new people that may be different from me in many things and I was very homesick . Actually all of these things made me somehow anxious but after those two days I noticed that every single one here wants me to be part of this AIS family , I began to make friends and by time this place became  home . People here are so friendly and they helped me to get rid of this anxiety of emptiness easily. You know the phrase that is telling that the place is rated by the people in it not by its position in the map? This is what Alabuga AIS, in Alabuga not only you can feel the warmth of the place in the festivals but culture of Russia also. The school might seem in a far place but as I told you AIS family won’t let you down at all. As days passed, I became connected with children here, they were very creative and clever actually, from my happiest moments here was when a kid saw me and got excited, that meant the world to me, it’s adorably meaningful seeing genuine appreciation from kids. I’m writing this on my last day here, the experience I gained from this programme breathtakingly exceptional, as humanbeings are diverse and unique , each volunteer will make and carve his own experience but the only thing common between us that this experience is surely one of a kind”.

“I have started my experience in Alabuga International School in summer 2018. At the beginning I was quite scared and a little bit shocked for being in the world school. Meanwhile I was also really curious and interested on learning how to work with kids.

With the Volunteer Service you really have the opportunity to explore and learn lots of different things. I think this one was the most important thing to me. Volunteers have to be Multitasking in order to be ready on doing lots of different things. In Alabuga International School they always help with different projects. I was involved especially in teaching math. This one was for me a chance to learn a lot about working with kids and culture of another country.

Another key-word for me was “Multiculturalism” as there were teachers from more than 8 different countries everyday inside the school. It was pleasure to talk about studies and plans for future. I met new friends from all over the world and I am so happy for this.

This experience has meant so much to me. I recommend it to anyone who wants to live a good cultural experience inside such an amazing place as AIS is!”

“I found out about the Volunteer Service through a volunteering platform and a presentation made by the representative of Alabuga International School, though I didn’t have any idea what to expect when I arrived. From the first day, I experienced the work from behind the scenes, doing all sorts of work – from preparing lessons to playing football with kids. Every day brought something new, as well as giving me the best opportunity to improve my Russian. The whole team was really friendly and I met people from different backgrounds as the school had Corporate University held and there were so many people from different parts of Russia. Thanks to Elvina, who helped us to work efficiently and learn new things together with kids. In short, it was an unforgettable experience, and I’d love to come again in the future”.
